WHAT WE STAND FOR: - ‘to see lives transform’ - we believe it is integral to the Christian faith to express love and care for the disadvantaged & those in need, whilst helping people to realise their full potential as human beings, irrespective of their background, race, sexual orientation or religious persuasion.
WHO WE WORK WITH: - The King’s Arms Project works with a wide range of homeless clients in Bedford, the vast majority of whom have some degree of drug and alcohol addiction and many have been long-term street homeless with poor education or employment opportunities, criminal records, and family disconnection. We provide a range of services in the local area as follows:
FRIDAY NIGHT MEETING – a weekly community outreach for rough sleepers and those in need, providing signposting to other support services, alongside hot meals and friendship. Between 30 – 40 people attend each session.
NIGHTSHELTER – we provide an 18-bed direct-access overnight accommodation to which individual rough sleepers can self-refer. Approx 6,500 bed spaces are offered per annum together with visiting support worker provision and a weekly free ‘surgery’ provided by a local GP.
BARTON HOUSE – a 14-bed hostel providing supported accommodation for between 30 – 40 residents per year (most of whom stay between 6 - 12 months). During their stay residents also have keyworker support and learn basic life skills together with domestic disciplines essential for a successful progression to independent living.
ROUGH SLEEPERS OUTREACH SERVICE – involving our support workers engaging informally with a wide range of street homeless clients and helping them to access services and support.
