Pathways to Employment Programme

Learning mechanics

From homelessness to employment

The programme works with homeless, recently homeless and rough sleeping clients, helping them to make the huge leap from homelessness to employment. It is split into three distinct areas:

  • Mentoring
  • Life-skills courses
  • Voluntary work placements and employment

Mentoring

Our Pathways to Employment Team also provide a one to one mentoring service to those who find it especially difficult to engage with other services.  Mentoring enables people to become more self-aware, take control of their own lives, realise their potential and feel empowered to make good choices.

If you would like to become a mentor please fill in our online volunteer application.

Life-skills courses

These are specifically designed for those who historically struggle to engage with other services, education or employment. They aim to equip participants with practical skills and the confidence they need to successfully establish themselves in their local community.

Courses are split into four categories

  • Preparing for Work
  • Strengthening Social Skills
  • Essential Life-skills
  • Preparation for Independent Living

Employment

We place people in voluntary work in and around Bedford and support both the employee and the employer to achieve a successful placement. Since the programme started we have seen a significant number of successful placements with over 50% moving into full or part time work.
